Consulting

Currently, statistical consulting is offered for faculty and doctoral students at WU Vienna.

The areas of consulting offered stretches from the planning of empirical studies to data preparation or from data visualisation to analysis. This includes advise about suitable methods of analysis, statistical interpretation of results and recommendation of software.

Consulting is conducted mainly by faculty members of the Competence Center for Empirical Research Methods (standard consulting), but if it becomes necessary faculty members of the Institute for Statistics und Mathematics are at the clients disposal (given available ressources, expert consulting).

Next to standard consulting on statistics and data analysis, this also enables joint (long-term) research cooperations where new problems and questions can be solved or answered in a cooperation of clients and consultants with the aim to publish joint papers.

Consulting types:

The main objective of the consultants is - with exception of projects from the last category - to enable the client to conduct high quality analyses and solve their statistical problems on their own. Standard consulting is limited to 5 hours per researcher and project. For standard consulting, the consultant usually does not function as data analyst or co-author and the consultants waive author rights according to § 106 of the UG 2002.
